4X Fuel Points means you earn 4 points per $1 instead of the usual 1, but only when Kroger runs an offer and you clip the coupon first. Right now there are two on kroger.com: a Friday only 4X on October 30, and a 4X Gift Card Event that ends November 4. Clip them in the Kroger app or on kroger.com before you shop.

What 4X Fuel Points actually means
Kroger renamed Fuel Points to just Points. Its program page now says “formerly Fuel Points,” and you can spend the points on groceries too. People still search for the old name, so we use both here.
A normal grocery trip earns 1 point per $1. On a 4X day it earns 4. The extra points show up in your account, not at the pump, and you spend them whenever you want. So you do not need to buy gas on the 4X day.
The three kinds of 4X

These are separate. A grocery 4X coupon does not make gift cards earn 4X, and this week’s Friday offer says outright that gift cards are excluded.
How to get it, step by step
- Sign in to the Kroger app or kroger.com with your Rewards account.
- Open Digital Coupons and look for the Points Event or 4X card.
- Tap Clip. You have to do this before you pay, not after.
- Shop in store, pickup or delivery before the offer ends.
- Check your Points balance the next day. Kroger says points load within 24 hours.
In store, make sure you use your Rewards number or the phone number tied to your account, or the points will not post.
What it is worth
Kroger’s math is 100 points for 10 cents off per gallon, up to $1 per gallon, on up to 35 gallons per fill. Some locations use different limits. Here is how much you need to spend to reach the full $1 per gallon, which is 1,000 points:

A real example: a $100 grocery run on a 4X day earns 400 points. On a 15 gallon fill that is 40 cents times 15, so $6 off. A full 35 gallon truck fill at $1 off saves $35.

Redeeming your points
- At the pump: enter your Alt ID (phone number) or insert your Rewards card, pick how many points to use, choose your grade, and pump. In the app you can go to Kroger Pay and pick “Use at the pump.”
- For groceries: redeem in your account before checkout. 100 points is $1 off, with a daily limit of 1,000 points ($10) per household.
- Without any points: Rewards members get 3 cents off per gallon at participating fuel locations.
Points expire on the last day of the month after you earn them. Earn them on October 30 and they last through November 30. More in our guide to Kroger fuel points expiration.
At a Kroger fuel center you can choose which month’s points to spend. At partner stations such as Shell, bp, Amoco or Turkey Hill, your oldest points go first.
Boost and stacking
Boost by Kroger Plus members earn 2X every day. For the spring 2026 weekend events, Kroger said Boost members earned 5X. That is 5 points per $1, not 2X multiplied by 4X, so Boost helps most on a normal day and adds a smaller edge on a 4X day. Details on the membership are on our Boost page. Gift cards: read the terms first
Most gift cards earn 2 points per $1 on any day. Kroger’s own gift cards and prepaid reloadable cards are generally excluded, and some Visa and Mastercard cards are excluded at Fred Meyer stores unless a promotion says otherwise. The 4X Gift Card Event lists its qualifying cards under Shop All Items, so look there before you buy. Buying cards only to earn points is a trade off. Do the math on any fees first.
Why your store may differ
Kroger says offer details may vary by location. KrogerKrazy reports that some regions get 2X on weekends in place of 4X on Fridays. If your app shows something different from this page, trust the app.
Frequently asked questions
Do I have to buy gas on the 4X day?
No. The 4X bonus is earned when you shop for groceries and other eligible items. You can use the points at the pump whenever you like, as long as they haven’t expired.
Is 4X Fuel Points the same as 4X Points?
Yes. Kroger now calls the program Points and its program page says ‘formerly Fuel Points.’ Most people still search the old name, and Kroger’s own press releases from this year still use it.

Does Boost stack with 4X?
Boost members earn 2X every day. During the spring weekend events in March and April, Kroger said Boost members earned 5X, not 8X, so the bonuses did not multiply together. Check the coupon terms for each new event.
How much gas does 4X save me?
Every 100 points is 10 cents off per gallon, up to $1 per gallon on up to 35 gallons. At 4X, $100 of groceries earns 400 points, which is 40 cents off per gallon.
Why does my store show 2X weekends instead of 4X Fridays?
Offers differ by region. KrogerKrazy notes that some regions get 2X on weekends in place of 4X on Fridays. The coupon in your own app is the one that counts.
When do my points expire?
Points expire on the last day of the month after you earned them. Points you earn in November are gone after December 31.
